Do I need to involve an ophthalmologist to order a test? Can't I just order it myself?

You are here!

It is true that we require all tests to be ordered by a doctor since we perform medical genetic testing. However that physician doesn’t necessarily need to be an ophthalmologist. While we certainly recommend that you consult with an ophthalmologist since they specialize in eye care, we understand that there are times when it is more convenient to involve your primary care physician.

Completed test results will be forwarded to the physician who orders a test on your behalf as a matter of protocol. Communication regarding test results should be addressed to your physician, who may actually refer you to a genetic counselor due to the complexity of the subject matter.
